  • Newly created role
  • Cambridge based with district-wide responsibilities
  • Responsibility for key Council-owned buildings including the Cambridge Town Hall, Cambridge Clock, Karapiro Domain, Band Rotundas (Te Awamutu, Cambridge and Leamington) and the Events Centre Pool (Te Awamutu), just to name a few…

The Waipā District is nestled in the heart of the Waikato, within commuting distance of Hamilton, and within easy reach of Auckland and Tauranga on weekends, It is one of the top five growth areas in New Zealand and has a reputation for being the 'Home of Champions' - and with good reason. Look back over the past ten years at how our district has flourished into a central North-Island hub for people to live, work and play. Well, the next ten years are going to be just as busy, with significant growth, and incredibly exciting projects occurring district-wide. Encircled by mountains and reserves, Waipā offers high-performance sport (rowing, cycling and kayaking) and opportunities to get out into nature in abundance. Coupled with fantastic local schools and great house prices, Waipā is the ideal place to achieve true work/life balance.

This new role will take overall responsibility for the end-to-end delivery and management of Councils deferred and preventative maintenance programme, and renewals, as well as assist with the new capital, works programme ensuring that Council's property assets are being built, maintained and managed in accordance with good industry practice and are fit for purpose whilst being compliant with relevant legislative requirements.

This includes:

  • plan development
  • budget development
  • initial implementation
  • ongoing management and monitoring

We are seeking an experienced maintenance professional with a relevant tertiary qualification in construction, engineering, finance or similar but we would consider applications with a building trade/ related technical qualification plus extensive relevant experience.

This includes experience in:

  • facilities or project management
  • general property maintenance and construction
  • preparation of cost estimates and contract documentation
  • tendering and contract supervision
  • building maintenance inspections and condition assessments
  • building development work
  • financial management - especially budgeting

Here at Waipā team fit is just as important as the technical expertise so for a full overview of the job and person requirements, please refer to the accompanying job description.

Our communities are at the forefront of all that we do, that's why we work hard to ensure that we have the best people on board our Waipā team. If you're looking for an exciting and unique opportunity to help shape the future vision for Waipā then we would love to hear from you.
