The Waipā  District is a vibrant and highly developed area with an excellent central location.  We're in a massive growth phase and this is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a successful, innovative and dynamic Council focused on its communities. 
 
We seeking a high calibre, experienced finance professional to lead our Finance team.  Reporting to the Group Manager - Business Support, this role is responsible for supporting the Council to achieve its community outcome of being Economically Progressive, whilst providing an attractive and affordable District to live and do business in.  
The role will contribute to our community outcomes by:
  • ensuring the accurate and timely provision of financial support to enable effective organisational decision making and service delivery;
  • managing financial reporting, treasury functions, system administration and procurement;
  • maintaining a strong focus on financial planning and financial management both short and long term;
  • managing Council's rating function in accordance with policy and legislation.
To achieve success in this role you will be a strong and effective people manager, a calm, rational and clear communicator and be driven to achieve challenging objectives. You will have experience at a senior level in the management and delivery of services and be able to promote and embed a culture of financial and commercial awareness. Producing high quality financial reports in accordance with IPSAS (tier 1) will be second-nature to you, as will having the ability and confidence to present complex financial information. A CA or relevant qualification is essential, and local government experience would be a definite advantage.
